SEM Vs SEM

It is very important to understand the difference between SEO and SEM. Most people do not know what SEM is and often confuse it for SEO.
I often see business owners who think they paying internet marketing companies for SEO but they in fact paying for SEM.

 

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO is all of the activities involved in getting your website to rank high on Google.
With SEO people come to your website naturally by searching on Google and clicking on one of the top results.

 

SEM (Search Engine Marketing)

SEM is paid advertising.
You pay Google to have your website listed on the first page.
This is also called Pay-Per-Click or PPC because you pay a fee each time your ad is clicked.
